    05-14-2026 - Project Update

This update includes an upcoming holiday schedule, construction progress, planned work, and ongoing traffic impacts for the next few weeks for the Santa Fe and Mineral Improvements project in Arapahoe County.

Memorial Day Weekend: No work will be performed from Saturday, May 23 through Monday, May 25 in observance of Memorial Day.

A new traffic pattern is in place on Mineral Avenue and a 24/7 right shoulder closure exists on southbound Santa Fe Drive within the project limits. Please refer to the Traffic Impacts section below for more details.

We appreciate the public's continued cooperation and adherance to new lane restrictions and detours during this important phase of construction.

    Construction Progress & Planned Work

Since the last update, crews have started clearing the west side of Santa Fe Drive for widening and begun construction on the now-closed portion of the south side of Mineral Avenue that, when complete, will connect to the quad roadway extension.

Crews have made significant progress on the quad roadway extension and roundabout in recent weeks, installing new concrete curb and gutter and preparing the road surface for asphalt paving. Other work included the removal of existing streetlights and construction of new light bases, and utility construction including installing electrical and fiber conduit.

Over the next few weeks, crews will continue performing concrete flatwork at the roundabout and Platte River Parkway extension, and asphalt pave sections of the new roadway. Other planned work includes cutting and filling embankment areas on the west side of Santa Fe Drive; clearing and grubbing and removing old concrete and asphalt on Mineral Avenue; and installing new drainage pipe and inlet structures.
